Types of Visas
Applying for entry to Kenya can be done online or at the point of entry, provided the applicant is not a national of a country that requires referred visas and approval by the Director of Immigration Services.
To have a visa approved, the applicant must pay the relevant fees. It's important to note that the visa processing fee is non-refundable. The types of visas include Ordinary Visa, Transit Visa, Diplomatic Visa, Courtesy/Official Visa, and the East Africa Single Tourist Visa.
Ordinary/Visitor Visa
This type of visa is issued to individuals who wish to enter Kenya for a holiday, as a visitor, or for any other temporary purpose. The applicant's passport must be valid for at least six months.
Transit Visa
A Transit Visa is issued to individuals whose nationalities require visas to enter Kenya and who wish to transit through Kenya en route to another destination. The applicant must possess a valid document permitting entry to their next destination or be qualified under the law of that country to enter.
Diplomatic Visa
This visa is issued for single or multiple entries to holders of diplomatic passports who are on official duty.
Courtesy/Official Visa
The Courtesy/Official Visa is issued by the Director of Immigration to individuals holding official or service passports on official duty and to ordinary individuals not entitled to a Diplomatic Visa.
East Africa Single Tourist Visa
This is a newly introduced visa class that allows single entry to individuals whose nationalities require visas to enter Kenya for tourism purposes, with onward transit into Rwanda or Uganda.
